The Mayor of London continues to have a strong commitment to Culture and Creative Industries in the capital and recognises the key role they will play in London’s social and economic recovery. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and committed team, delivering on a wide variety of projects and policy in London to ensure that culture and the creative industries remain at the heart of the city.
This is a pivotal role in taking forward the work of the newly appointed Mayor’s Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm, with plenty of scope to lead and shape this programme.
Diversity is central to London’s identity and to our city’s success, but many Londoners do not see themselves or their histories reflected in our public realm. The Commission has been established to make a tangible and visible difference to our public spaces. Its programme of work will engage the public, London boroughs and key statutory bodies through constructive debate, research and commissioning best practice.
As Programme Manager you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Commission’s delivery strands, which cover Improving Representation (through new commissions), Engaging Londoners through discussion and debate and Developing Guidance and Best Practice. You will be central in bringing together GLA teams across Culture and Creative Industries, Communities & Social Policy, Regeneration, Education and Housing & Land, Transport for London and others and external partners including the Borough Working Group and Partners Board to drive this programme of work.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a high-performing, ambitious and fast paced team environment. You will have extensive experience of project management – delivering projects, events and reports to a specific timeline. You will be adept at managing multiple stakeholders and complex projects. You will have excellent negotiating, influencing and communication skills, including experience of preparing written reports, newsletters and briefings. You will be able to manage your time effectively in a fast-paced changing environment with a solution focused mindset.
This role will be based at City Hall or London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).
The Mayor has announced that City Hall will be relocating from More London (London Bridge) to the Crystal Building in the Royal Docks and London Fire Brigade's HQ at Union Street in Southwark. At present GLA staff are working largely from home, with office space available at our offices based at City Hall, More London.
Over the coming weeks and months, we will moving to hybrid working, linked to our relocation programme. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office. The Culture & Creative Industries Unit is anchored at the Union Street building.
