BBC Cymru Wales creates a full range of content for Wales and beyond – from drama and comedy to hard-hitting documentaries, live sport, and the latest news. You’ll find our content across TV, Radio, and the BBC’s digital products.

BBC Cymru Wales in conjunction with BAME Recruitment, are seeking applicants for a newly created and critical role for a Senior Head of Content Production.

About the role:

This is a senior creative leadership role across audio, video, and online platforms, and will include leading BBC Radio Wales, the commissioning of content for BBC Sounds from Wales (including podcasts), and the production of BBC Wales sport content across all platforms. You will lead a team of c200 with currently 8 direct reports. We are looking for a leader who has the vision to deliver a range of engaging, distinctive and much-loved programming and content, designed to provide value for all audiences across Wales and beyond.

As the Senior Head of Content Production, you will lead content production across the department, supporting a creative culture of innovation and risk-taking, and responding to our audiences’ appetite for online and on-demand content. You will be passionate about developing a range of ideas and talents that explores Wales’ extraordinary diversity and will work closely with other commissioners and partners to identify opportunities to collaborate. You will also be responsible for delivering our priorities in relation to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce within the departments.

About you:

We would love to hear from you if you are an inspirational leader with experience and knowledge in:

• Providing excellent operational and editorial leadership

• Leading and managing multidisciplinary teams
• How content is commissioned, financed, and produced for linear and digital platforms
• Operating at a senior level in the public sector and/or dealing with external/governmental stakeholders.
• Current markets, trends and issues within the broadcasting industry and wider media sector
• Owning significant budgets and understanding key financial drivers

• A passion, drive, and can-do attitude to push for positive change
