Shape the future of London
The London Plan team is totally unique – and you can be part of it. Through the London Plan we shape the growth of London as a whole, influencing every aspect of how the capital develops, supporting its economic growth, addressing inequality, promoting a healthier London and creating a more environmentally sustainable city. We think long-term and big picture – without taking our eye off the detail.
In this role, you’ll be a key member of the planning department. You’ll write ground-breaking new planning guidance, discover insights as you develop new evidence and research, and hold the pen as we update the London Plan. You’ll work with a rich variety of stakeholders, tapping into their knowledge while advocating for the aims of the GLA. You’ll engage directly, seeking out the views of Londoners and the capital’s varied and overlapping communities. And you’ll work with experts from across the GLA and TfL who are spearheading innovative projects, strategies and missions.
In this role you’ll work across different topic areas, developing your expertise and knowledge. Initially, the role is likely to focus either on planning for economic and cultural uses, or on housing and social infrastructure. We welcome applications from individuals with experience of these specialisms or of other topic areas and relevant experience.
This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic candidates and disabled candidates who are currently underrepresented in our workforce.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share. In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
