- Grade: 10

Transport has the potential to transform our city. It’s part of everyone’s daily lives and enables people to make the most of opportunities in London. London’s streets make up a lot of the city’s public space and transport is key to unlocking development across the capital. Now is your opportunity to make a difference to how transport works in our city.
The Mayor is working hard with Transport for London to make transport better for everyone and to transform the city’s streets. In a challenging post-pandemic context, you’ll help to translate this vision into practical changes on London’s streets and public transport network. The Mayor has a world-leading Transport Strategy with stretching ambitions for physical activity, decarbonising the transport system and investment in new projects, which you’ll help to realise.
In this role you will be responsible for gaining buy-in to the Mayor’s priorities and ensuring progress against key commitments, so you will be comfortable working with and influencing senior colleagues. You’ll understand London’s political environment and how it plays out in practice, including managing complex stakeholder relationships.
You will need experience of preparing clear and concise written reports and briefings for a range of audiences. In particular, you will be confident in identifying what senior leaders need to know and when, proactively problem solving and making positive suggestions for change as required. Previous experience in transport or planning is not essential for this role: instead we want people with the transferrable skills to succeed in this challenging context.
This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic candidates and disabled candidates who are currently underrepresented in our workforce.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.
In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
