Training Wellbeing and Inclusion Manager - The Angelou Centre

The Angelou Centre has expanded its services for Black and minoritised women and girls over recent years and we are now ready to expand and consolidate our leadership team to ensure that we continue to thrive.
We are seeking exceptional leaders to support the Executive Director to lead the Angelou Centre and deliver our vision. You will provide inspirational leadership to our staff and volunteers and be an ambassador and champion for the AngelouCentre locally, regionally and nationally, developing new opportunities and partnerships for the Centre. You will be a consultative and collegiate leader bringing a high level of passion, personal integrity and emotional intelligence to the role. You must be committed to the ethos and values of the Angelou Centre and have a track record of working in a feminist, anti-racist and women-centred way.

Posts: Training Wellbeing and Inclusion Manager
Contract: Full-time, permanent, subject to funding (open to part-time/jobshare applications)
Salary Scale: £37,568- £45,648 (NJC pay scale, points 33-41)
Benefits: 28 days paid holiday incremental to 31 days after 5 years’ service and 35 days after 10 years’ service; flexible working; employer’s pension contribution of 6%, enhanced maternity provisions.
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (requests to work flexibly will be considered)
Reports to: Executive Director
Responsibilities: Training Coordinator, Wellbeing and Inclusion Coordinator
and Volunteer Coordinator.
Overall purpose of role
Developing, fundraising, managing, monitoring and reviewing the operational
running of high-quality services to improve employability and health outcomes for black and minoritised women and children.
Initiating, developing and maintaining effective relationships and formal
partnerships with relevant organisations locally, regionally and nationally;
overseeing representation at multi-agency partnerships and implementing and
supporting the development of the strategic direction.
The Training, Wellbeing and Inclusion Manager (TWIM) will be primarily responsible for leading the strategic development and delivery of the Centre’s Training, Wellbeing & Inclusion (TWI) projects, addressing the needs of black and minoritised women and girls who face intersecting barriers in achieving their full potential and achieving social and economic inclusion through:

Key tasks and responsibilities of the role

Actively support the successful delivery of the mission, vision and strategic
objectives.
- Support the Executive Director to ensure that the Centre meets its constitutional, regulatory, and legal obligations.
- Support the successful day to day running of the organisation.
Champion the values of the organisation.
- Champion the culture and behaviours agreed by the leadership team.
Strategic Work
- Support the Executive Director and the Management Board (MB) in developing and executing the Business Plan/Strategic Plan and implement new processes and approaches to achieve it, as appropriate.
- Alongside the Executive Director, represent the organisation at relevant strategic platforms– challenging poor practices, building relationships, and lobbying for meaningful change for black and minoritised women.
- Enable and ensure representation of black and minoritised women at external events and in publicity opportunities, as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships, networks and campaigns locally, regionally and nationally within the Employment & Skills and Health sectors.
- Strengthen partnership and coordination with partners and stakeholders.
- Engage in relevant policy debates and identify emerging issues and trends relevant to black and minoritised women’s training, personal development, wellbeing and inclusion.
- Ensure that the impact of projects/programmes is effectively measured and learning shared.
- Work symbiotically with the VAWG Services Manager to identify opportunities for new initiatives and the further development of the organisation.
Governance
- Build on AC’s track record of success by working alongside the Executive Director and MB to further develop the organisation’s vision and achieve its goals for continued financial stability and enhance the impact of its mission and services.
- Support the Executive Director in their role to report to the Board on progress and all matters relating to the discharge of its responsibilities, to enable it to fulfil its roles and responsibilities with respect to AC’s legal obligations.
- Work with the Executive Director to review and implement effective governance measures.
- Share proposals on the implementation of agreed Training, Wellbeing and Inclusion-related services, priorities and influencing strategies with the Executive Director and Board where necessary.
- Provide leadership and direction to project coordinators to ensure organisational compliance.
- Champion a positive culture of equity, well-being, and excellence within AC aiming for continuous improvement, commitment, and innovation.
- Support the AC to meet its constitutional, regulatory, and legal obligations.
- Work within relevant Board sub-groups to ensure the Board has suitable plans and practices in place in relation to oversight of financial management, service development and strategic planning.
Service Delivery & Operational Management
- Develop a black feminist responsive, needs-led service that addresses the social and structural inequalities faced by black and minoritized women and girls in achieving their potential.
- Ensure the excellent delivery of services for black and minoritised victim-survivors according to the ethos and values of the Angelou Centre and terms and conditions of funding and revenue streams.
- Oversee Training and Development, Wellbeing and Inclusion work plans and budgets and coordinate the annual operations plan and budget.
- Oversee financial arrangements and processes related to programmes and projects.
- Manage, supervise, support and develop project coordinators.
- Develop and maintain mechanisms for listening to the views of service users on performance and programme/project developments.
- Ensure survivor voice and representation is a central to the development and delivery of services and campaigning.
- Coordinate and ensure timely delivery of internal/external evaluations.
- Monitor progress and staff performance in relation to established work plans and objectives and ensure corrective measures are taken as required.
- Manage internal and external communications to relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain communications and compliance within the framework of formal agreements with partner organisations.
- Design and implement monitoring and evaluation systems, establishing key performance indicators and inducting staff on the systems.
- Provide support to the project managers/coordinators in monitoring, evaluation and learning.
Staff Management
- Oversee the day-to-day management of TWI staff, ensuring appropriate and effective delivery of services to women and girls.
- Provide strong and effective black feminist leadership within the team and effectively support positive performance management protocols.
- Create a sense of shared purpose and an environment in which all team members feel valued and contribute towards the vision and the delivery of all TWI and Angelou Centre Services.
- Ensure effective staff development strategies are implemented, monitored and reviewed.
- Support the recruitment, selection and retention of all staff and posts within the organisation. Including annual employee appraisals, performance reviews and professional development.
Fundraising & Financial Management
- Develop funding proposals for financial support and sustainability of TWI projects and services in collaboration with project coordinators.
- Oversee TWI programmes and project budgets including financial reporting obligations.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of AC’s fundraising strategy.
- Generate new funding opportunities relevant through networking and developing relevant partnerships.
- Manage relationships with relevant key funders, including responsibility for meeting funding obligations, as well as reporting to funders and donors.
